Can you still connect wirelessly to the internet short a workstation directly connected to the router?

i hold a vista hp pavilion entertainment PC. and a dsl modem and linksys router. when i connected my laptop to the modem directly and then after it connected, i took out the ethernet cable and put surrounded by the linksys. then i connected to the linksys and it would connect to the internet. But after a blackout a few weeks ago, it doesn't work anymore. explaination?

Answer:

It should work on standalone argument after having be properly configured. It looks like the power outage messed the router configuration. You would involve a PC to access the router's software and reconfigure it. If router does not respond to the PC, it might have be damaged by the power outage.
Yes, but you will involve a WIFI moder or router and a WIFI card in respectively computer that you wish to connect.
One piece to check! Is the router sending a wireless signal. You will have to get hold of into the router setup to check this.
You will need a WIFI card or a netgear USB adaptor to connect. Try reinstalling, if that does not work, you may have had a power serge when you have your black out - is everything else working correctly?

I own a linksys router with both my laptop & desktop connecting to it cable free. The only trouble I hold ad is near my bluetooth connecting to the linksys, but using the Netgear USB resolved that.
