Does staying connected to a server drain laptop battery?

I connect to a server for access and saving documents while I'm at work. The nouns is through Ethernet, NOT wireless. Will it drain my laptop battery more like lightning if I stay connected, or is there really no power drain for that?

Answer:

If your laptop is on, its a power drain, extent. And the more you have the laptop doing at one time will drain the power even faster. If your laptop have a connection to plug into a wall duplex for power, use that when your have to keep it on for a lenth of time.
you will enjoy to be connected to the external power supply to take the drain bad of the batteries, unless you use the power setting to shut everything down or put it to sleep, enormously shortly after becoming inactive for a minute or two and even afterwards there is a minimal power drain
