resourcefully unfortunatelly, laptops are not as versatile as desktops are. If you want to build a laptop from scrape you really need to buy some parts that are specifically fitted to respectively other but i doubt you can buy each chunk piece by piece.
you cant build your own laptop, not that i have found!! not a soul sells parts for them to be built. the simply way that i can see is to buy a prehistoric one, that is the best that you can find, and upgrade the memory and knotty drive. apart from that, your better off buying one, or building a desktop computer.

This site have Videos and step by step instructions on building and testing laptops. They even benchmark it against a dell.

this site will dispense you a sony vaio laptop just for completing some hasty online tasks! really recommend it, especially if you're broke but really want/need a laptop (like me).

Your best bet is to buy an asus c90 whitebook, this 15.4 takes a destop processor, HDD and graphics card(mxmII) so you can build it your self. Or try rock direct, alienware, dell, workstation specilist, ibuypower, cyberpower pc and gentech notebook.
