Cd drive problem?

I hold a G3 Mac laptop. The CD drive seem to be malfunctioning. I cannot burn cd's: I get an error message within the middle of the burning process. And the drive also makes closely of noise when I grasp a Dvd in...Is it dog-eared? Any idea if it can be replaced and how much would that cost? Thanks!

First try playing a cleaning disk, the one for your stereo will do fine. If that doesn't work consequently just buy a untried one and fit it yourself here in Spain they are around EUR35 or DVD/CD RW
